Dance and Performing Arts
The curriculum for Dance and Performing Arts is a creative and dynamic performance-based discipline which enables learners to develop and deepen their confidence and technical expertise. Learners are introduced to a range of techniques and processes which are practiced and refined over time. Part of the development process requires learners to reflect and evaluate their own research and performance by examining a range of styles, traditions and influences.
Areas covered in the study of this subject include:
– research and analysis of case studies and the work of influential practitioners
– techniques are developed in a variety of disciplines including dance, and later in the curriculum journey singing, acting, musical and physical theatre
– individual and group performance
– planning, rehearsal and organisational processes, learning and performing collaboratively, and problem-solving
